Danny Kensy Reignites The Spark On Video For “Smoke With An Old Flame”

For better or worse, love never truly fades away. It can be a hard truth to confront, but there’s also times when it can be beautiful and touching. Times where a chance encounter with a previous partner can remind you of all the good there was in the past. It’s here where we find country artist Danny Kensy in his latest video for the 2022 single “Smoke With An Old Flame,” and it’s a place some of us hope we might land in one day ourselves.

In the video, shot by Barefoot Bandit Productions, we find Kensy enjoying a beer at a bar before an old ex surprises him from behind. Before he knows it, the two are laughing and playing while re-living the highs of their previous romance. “Now we’re flippin’ through memories, flashin’ back / Back to when we were too young to buy a pack” Kensy recalls over a twinkling and rustic melody. With bonds over that tobacco pack providing the inspiration, Kensy builds a memorable song that’s not wistful or aching like other songs dedicated to former lovers. Instead, this sentimental track rejoices in the flashbacks and realizes that some bonds are never truly broken.

“Smoke With An Old Flame” was one of five singles Danny Kensy released in 2022, alongside “Room 217,” “Airport Margaritas,” “Good Thing About Boats,” and “Beachin’ Christmas.” “Smoke With An Old Flame” itself also got a lyric video treatment when it was first released back in October. Most recently in January, Kensy put out “Burns Like Salt,” a tender ballad with a booming reach.
