Johnny Ciggs, Profound79, & Noah-O Skillfully Grasp “Front Page Fame” In New Video

 In News

Right at the end of 2022, Gritty City Records dropped Youngblood, a collaborative record between charismatic MC Johnny Ciggs and the crafty beatmaker Profound79. With nine tracks featuring sharp production and surging flows, the record captures the synergy of the enterprising label and the central talent of the two artists involved. Months into 2023, the duo continued the momentum of Youngblood by releasing a music video for “Front Page Fame,” one of the true stand-out tracks of the record. With the addition of the industrious MC Noah-O, the joint reaches new heights as both MCs bring their own signature finesse to the verses while enhancing the resounding sounds swirling underneath.

Directed by BC Music 1st, the video finds the trio exploring a scenic bank of Richmond with a train and the James River trying their best to keep up with the song’s driving beat. Profound79 lurks in the background of this visual exploration as the punchy soul track unravels, exposing a sturdy foundation for both MCs to spin on while also being detailed and flavorful enough to stand on its own. Ciggs opens up the track with the gusto we’ve come to expect from a Gritty City release, but there seems to be extra urgency in the rhymes as he looks to raise his game to match the intrepid fire Noah-O has brought to the proceedings. Bumping with rhyme and bursting with style, it’s another classic song from the Gritty City gang that helps make Youngblood such a rewarding listen.

“Front Page Fame” is the second of three singles from Youngblood, sandwiched between March’s “Pennies To Grands” and “Empty Benches,” which was released at the same time as the album and featured an all-star rotation of local hip-hop artists in the music video from Rah Scrilla and Ndefru down to Eliturite and Ant The Symbol. Each of these songs features an equally vibrant sound and pace, showing that the charm of Youngblood is in how it stretches that collaborative skill across a bevy of styles and grooves.
