Moneá Embraces Introversion In New Video For “Loner”

Plush and dreamy, soul musician Moneá‘s 777 EP was a melodic marvel dropped onto the Richmond scene last year. Honestly, we still have it in heavy rotation over here so we were overjoyed when we heard the news that the striking singer was going to release a music video for the record’s second track, “Loner.” Imagine our delight when we additionally found out that “Loner” was getting a new mix treatment, which increased the song speed to a breezy, daydreaming tempo that the new music video matches perfectly.

Filmed and edited by Moneá, the new video finds the singer enjoying a solitary day with her music. In the video’s description, Moneá states she “decided to put away my perfectionism and just create” and it’s that free spirit that makes this video and mix so charming and memorable. Here, the new mix offers a blithe feeling that stands in contrast to the more contemplative setting that’s found on 777. Moneá’s voice is still as warm as ever though, which helps the new mix match the dreamy ambience of her growing discography.

The video and new mix for “Loner” is the first music from Moneá since she released the therapeutic track “Check In” this past November, which we reviewed here. Around the same time, the singer also embarked on a successful tour of the United Kingdom helping to not only raise her notoriety but also grow her live repertoire which we hope to see more of in Richmond this year.
