Windhand Release Malefic Video For “Red Cloud”
Pulling from the wells of both homage and satire, Richmond metal titans Windhand have released an intriguing music video for “Red Cloud,” a video that’s a notable throwback to the psych-horror classics of the ’60s.
Directed by filmmaker and animator Zev Deans, the video “follows the exploits of a washed-up Warlock and his imbecilic Henchman as they attempt to summon The Scarlet Woman,” as their press releases states. If that’s enough to catch your eye, then give the video a watch for the mix of Technicolor filters and animated scenery, a combination capable of evoking childhood memories for any who grew up watching old C-list horror movies on cable TV.
The foreboding song “Red Cloud” comes off of the band’s latest album, Eternal Return released on October 5th through Relapse Records, which has earned strong reviews from both fans and press, with Bandcamp labelling it their “most gripping record to date.”
After a week off, Windhand resumes their North American trek tonight in Philadelphia, a tour that will see them swing through their hometown on November 15th for a performance at The Broadberry with Satan’s Satyrs opening.
