Naeedy Strikes Fast & Heavy In “817INRICHMOND” Video
It’s easy to look commanding on a big stage, bathed in lights with a roaring crowd at your feet. Even in the studio, projecting a larger-than-life presence often comes with the territory. But to come across as imposing and magnetic while cruising down the road or stopping by the corner store? That takes real skill, something Richmond MC Naeedy flaunts with ease in her new song and video for “817INRICHMOND.”
Shot by HundoMadeIt (the creative force behind Booth The Streets), the video trails Naeedy in and out of her truck and a 7-Eleven, capturing rhymes as they spill effortlessly from the top of her head–embodying the adage “strike while the iron’s hot.” Bars come so fast for her that she has to drop them before the next one hits, and if her discography is any indication, plenty more followed the filming of this video. “I guess they starting to see me shine,” she declares at the start, nodding to her rising profile in Richmond’s ever-thriving rap scene–a recognition long overdue given the talent she displayed on “Giving Em Smoke,” her first streaming single from back in 2020.
“817INRICHMOND” marks Naeedy’s first single since dropping her Fully Loaded EP in July 2024, and she’s already teasing the next project. A recent social media post declaring “Idgaf ep coming soon!” hints at either the upcoming record’s title or the no-nonsense attitude fueling it. Either way, it’s something we’re eager to hear over here.
