Traptize Ky Stretches Past The Frame On “Slide 2”
Traptize Ky has long been a consistent force in Richmond’s underground hip-hop scene, and as his name gains wider recognition, he’s finding deeper inspiration within himself by revisiting and expanding on the themes of some of his strongest work, such as “Slide 2.” This new single, along with its accompanying music video, allows him to continue the flow and vibe of the original track from his 2021 album A Different Me 2, a record that, in itself, stands as a testament to his self-driven creativity.
Filmed by MrBvrks, who also directed Traptize Ky’s popular videos for “Not RVA Drill” and “Rio Flow,” the video for “Slide 2” keeps Traptize Ky’s commanding presence confined to a vertical frame, allowing just enough lyrical flair to fill in the surrounding white space. The track finds him fully in his element, gliding over a gritty, lurching beat produced by Kyshawn Brown, giving him the perfect backdrop to showcase his rabid sound that’s earned subtle viral hits over the years.
“Slide 2” is the second single from Traptize Ky released so far in 2025, following “SPANK,” which dropped in mid-January. Before that, fans had been waiting over a year for new music since the release of his SOON EP in October 2023. But the wait is almost over–Traptize has teased his next project, the BABY U-HAUL mixtape, which is set to arrive any day now. In the meantime, “Slide 2” keeps listeners locked in, gearing them up for what’s just around the corner.
