004Mal & 804Roy Search For The Clutch Gene On “Flu Game”

 In News

It’s been 25 years since a sickly Michael Jordan wowed the world in the 1997 NBA Finals and yet people are still finding inspiration in his clutch performance. Today, it’s local rappers 004Mal and 804Roy who look to His Royal Airness as they carry the brunt of pressure and stress around them in their new video for “Flu Game.”

First released in 2022, shortly after the singles “Dukes” and “OG,” “Flu Game” is a bumping track featuring two MCs freely flowing in two separate and equally popping styles. 004Mal opens the track up with a gnawing, relentless tone that seems to sprint through his burdens as the bass bangs around a pithy piano beat and cackling drums. Later, 804Roy pops in with his own flow, one that seems more deliberate and provides a sharp contrast to the brisk pace of the opening. In the video, the two bounce around a house party and stark alley, taking a break from a decisive dice game as they look to tap into the clutch gene of the true hardwood GOAT (sorry, LeBron).

Since the release of “Flu Game” last July, 004MAL has kept busy, releasing the seven-track record Charlottes Son in August, the “Almighty Mal” single in October, the “4our Million Up” single in November, and then “Mans World” this past February. If you’re keeping track, that’s six singles and one record released in less than a year, something that points to a hectic 2023 on the horizon for the rolling MC.
