David Lee Baybee Saunters Through The Hype On “Penny To A Dime” Video

 In News

Gettin’ paid in the game made me roam free\ Flip a penny to a dime I’m like an O-G.” That line from Do Or Die’s 1998 single “Still Po Pimping” still hits hard today, where the grind means keeping your eyes locked on every cent behind the dollar… or risk watching it all slip away. It’s this mindset that fuels the music of Richmond MC David Lee Baybee, manifesting clearly on his latest single, “Penny To A Dime,” complete with a roaming music video that captures his hustle in motion.

Directed by Domico Phillips, the video showcases Baybee flexing across a range of backdrops—some polished, like a sleek dancefloor studio, and others more rugged, like a gritty parking garage that serves as an ironically fitting spot to spark up. The track runs on a fast-and-loose libido, but there are flickers of introspection beneath the bravado: “I might just cut off all my hoes and stay my ass in line\ I might just drop down on one knee, don’t gotta waste my time.” It’s all delivered over a cracking beat with a steady, marching stride, propelled by Baybee’s punchy candor.

“Penny To A Dime” marks the second music video from Baybee’s late 2024 album LND–short for Legends Never Die–following the early 2024 release of “Set Me Free,” which offered a first glimpse at the album’s evident swagger. The project features production from WyaBilly, Obssedwithyourecords, BeamerMadeiT, RaeDoubleR, and VerifyStudios, with guest appearances from Ed Da Realist, BiggBrattzz, Tino Gretzky, and KingCamm throughout the tracklist, all of which made his debut album a strong statement.
