Firstborne Tap Into 64 Bit Power On “Intercontinental Champions” Video
Utilizing classic polygonal graphics, metal supergroup Firstborne have created an eye-catching video for their single “Intercontinental Champions” that contrasts the nostalgic ’80s hard rock sounds with visual memories of fifth-generation gaming.
Featuring thundering rhythms and blazing guitars, the song seethes through rabid breakdowns and a soaring chorus, the latter of which matches the best of classic hard rock and metal anthems through tone and lyrics. (“Blood will never run cold/ Light thе stars in your soul/ Till you’re underneath thе ground“). In the video, directed by Matt Burdette, the band highlights a character select screen for each member of the group: Chris Adler (formerly of Lamb Of God), Girish Pradham (Girish And The Chronicles), Myrone, and James LoMenzo (Megadeth and Black Label Society). A speedrun this is not as each character is given its own introductory scene, explaining their power and attributes before the band makes their literal dent on the world and begins to soar as a group.
Since releasing “Intercontinental Champions” as a single in November, the band has released two additional songs with “Sinners” this past February and “Follower” coming out at the beginning of April. All three singles, and several others the band released in 2022, should make their way onto the band’s upcoming album, which will serve as their first collection of songs since their self-titled debut EP was released in 2020. There’s no concrete news or information on that record as of right now, but hopefully, we’ll see an announcement sooner than later from the seasoned musicians.
