SlideBinLabled Reflects On Life’s Gritty Realities In “Non-Fictional Living”

 In News

A subtle byproduct of the past decade’s streaming wars and content overload is the romanticization of our own lives. We cast ourselves as the characters we watch on screens big and small, drawn to their familiar narratives while our own stories remain unfinished. It’s a common enough phenomenon that several colloquialisms have emerged in response, most notably “Main Character Syndrome,” which challenges the notion that, while our perspective is central to our own lives, we are not always the lead protagonist in the larger, unfolding story. Failing to recognize this strips away a layer of our humanity—a sentiment that pulses through Non-Fictional Living, the latest single from Richmond MC SlideBinLabled, also accompanied by its own music video.

Set against indigo backdrops and the scenery of Rocketts Landing, the Rick Blair-shot video follows the warbling MC as he weaves through a steady, clacking beat layered over a subdued piano line–a contrast that nudges you from introspection with quiet assertion. Images of guns flash through both the visuals and lyrics, grounding the track in the harsher realities of life, ones that are often idealized yet, in truth, remain raw, lingering remnants of a conflicted existence.

“Non-Fictional Living” is SlideBinLabled’s second single of 2025, following “In Awe,” both building on a steady stream of releases throughout 2024. That run began with “Jungle” and concluded with “Shells, Drugs & Love,” a late-December track also featured in episode 44 of the Speak Your Truth video series. While fans may be eager for a follow-up to his dense 2023 album Channel O, if SlideBinLabled maintains last year’s momentum, 2025 is shaping up to be another prolific and rewarding year of music from the shifty hip-hop artist.
