The Ivins Boldly Rock Through A Twisty Caper In “Illusion”

 In News

The Ivins are making some huge waves in 2023. Just recently, the Richmond/Nashville band traveled to Africa (yes, Africa) for a wild tour that most musicians only dream of. Fun trivia fact: the band now holds the distinction of being the first rock band to play in Sudan! Outside of those live achievements, the band also released a new song recently entitled “Illusion,” a breakneck alt-rock sprint that’s also paired with a madcap music video that matches the spirit of classic rock videos.

Classic in sound and modern in flair, this new single from The Ivins is a potent blast of alt-rock with start-stop verses that lead into a thrilling singalong chorus. Stylishly written and expertly produced, it’s a hallmark of the band’s dynamic sound that has afforded them the ability to tour the country… and now the world too! For the video, the band finds themselves pulled into a caper introduced with an old-timey narration that describes the hunt for the manic criminal known as Sweet Tooth. Describing this video takes the joy out of it, but if you enjoy the camp and tongue-in-cheek nature of videos like “Learn To Fly” and “Sabotage,” then this is something you should check out right now.

“Illusion” is the first new music from the band since they released the full-length album Conditions in 2021. The band did release a remix of that album’s stand-out track “Oblivious” by Richmond producer L3fthand last year, but hopefully “Illusions” points to more rock power coming from their maxed-out speakers soon.
