Fight Cloud Explores Provincial Charm In Video For “Home Alone”
Spacious post-rock may have been born in the depths of urban dolor, but it truly lives in the beautiful, isolated countryside, a fact local band Fight Cloud takes full advantage of in the video for their return single, “Home Alone.” Released earlier this month via RVA Magazine, the video captures the band relishing the rustic scenery with glissading melodies & probing rhythms, offering visual comfort & musical clarity fit for city dwellers, country folk, and everyone in between.
The single serves as the first track from Fight Cloud’s upcoming album Thoughts Aligned, due out this February, which will mark the band’s first new music since February of 2016 when they released We’ll Be Alright, a stirring collection of eleven lofty post-rock compositions. Though three years has passed, “Home Alone” feels like it doesn’t miss a beat, expanding on the band’s deep, resonant appeal with ingenious songwriting & poignant delivery that are on full display in the video, shot by John Shutika, which explores the ambience of the track, yanking the band away from bustling traffic & buzzing lights to a place where the gorgeous space between each note isn’t just welcomed, but nurtured.
The second single from Thoughts Aligned has also been released, the aptly titled “Big Mouth” which opens the record with a knotty, cavernous sound that only helps illuminates the strong gap between this new record and 2016’s previous benchmark. (Click here to listen.)
Thoughts Aligned is due out Thursday, February 7th and the following week on Friday, February 15th, the band will celebrate its release with a show at Poor Boys alongside Young Scum, Goodnight Daniel, and Net Negative. For more information on the show, you can click here.
You can preorder Thoughts Aligned now over at Bandcamp, but in the meantime, make sure to check out the winsome video for “Home Alone.”
